Christmas was in fact about the birth of a rebellion, a rebellion against the forces of oppression and the tyranny of human sin.
The birth of Jesus is about God breaking into this world, Heaven invading Earth and upending the corrupt power structures in the world. It is about healing the wound at the centre of the world. He came to heal the tyranny of human sin and the brokenness that we find within ourselves.
We enter into this rebellion by letting the rebellion be born in us.
Jesus, thank you for being born. Thank you for giving birth to a rebellion in the world against oppression, sin, and injustice. There is a wound in the world that we cannot heal. There is a wound in our hearts that we cannot heal. Jesus, would you come and heal it? We’re sorry for the times that we’ve hurt others and you. Come Lord Jesus and be born in our hearts.
