The Companions of the Cross wish to provide an updated clarification regarding Rev. Carlos Martins, CC.

Following an alleged incident at Queen of Apostles Church in Joliet, Illinois, on November 21, 2024, a civil investigation was conducted by the Joliet Police and the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. In addition, two canonical reviews were conducted by the Diocese of Joliet and the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall. It was determined that no criminal offense and no canonical delict was committed. Accordingly, all allegations previously raised against Fr. Martins have been resolved in his favour.

In light of the conclusions reached, Fr. Martins remains a priest in good standing, and there is no basis to question his moral character or his suitability for priestly ministry.

The Companions of the Cross are grateful for Fr. Martins’ many years of dedicated service to the Church, particularly in the area of evangelization.

We ask for continued prayers for Fr. Martins, for our Society, and for any involved, that all may move forward in truth, justice, and mercy.
