Fr. Bob Bedard, (Companions of the Cross Founder) had a vision of the Church coming explosively alive!

He was deeply convicted that if enough people gave God permission, they would see God take initiatives and supply great renewal for the Church like never seen before. And, in the late 1980’s the Catholic world witnessed unprecedented renewal when Fr. Bob scrapped his plans for the parish and gave God permission at St. Mary’s Church in Ottawa, Canada.

The Permission Movement is alive!

It started in 1985 at St. Mary’s Parish in Ottawa, ON. Fr. Bob received a word, “Give God Permission”.

Fr. Bob’s vision of an Explosively Alive Church needs Explosively Alive Christians. Will you be one? Will you give God permission?

“I was developing a bit more confidence about my capacity to hear God speak. What I thought I was hearing at the time, was something like this:

‘I don’t want you to do anything, except the very obvious things a pastor must do. I want to take over here myself. I don’t want any of your programs or ideas. I have a plan of my own. But what I want from you is your permission. I want you to give me permission to do what I want to do. And, not only that, I want you to tell the people you are giving me this permission, and that I want their permission, too. If I get enough permissions, I’ll move. When I do, you’ll see it. You can then point it out and get everybody to support it.’ “

Session #1 – Give God Permission
Fr. Allan MacDonald, CC

How can I give God permission if I don’t, first of all, know that I am so incredibly loved by him?

How can I give God permission unless I am, first of all, receptive to his love?

Session #2 – Waiting and Watching
Dcn. Daniel Ramos, CC

We don’t wait aimlessly. We don’t wait blindly. We are not passive, asleep, or distracted. We are waiting and watching. We are waiting with intent and attentiveness.

We wait with anticipation for God to move.

Session #3 – Supporting the Works of the Lord
Fr. Miguel Perez, CC

“What we need, I am convinced, is not a whole bunch of good ideas, but God’s idea. He has a plan. If we find out what it is and do it, it will work, work for him and for his kingdom.” (Fr. Bob Bedard, We are Called to be Companions of the Cross, p. 24)

Session #4 – The Lord’s Dynamic
Fr. Joshua Grandmaison, CC

“We must organize for justice. We must labour for peace. We must lobby for life. We must reach out and serve all those in need—the hungry, the lonely, the alienated, the sick, the imprisoned, the abandoned, the despairing, and the addicted. The list is long. But, while all these are imperative to our mission from the Lord, one ministry stands first, head and shoulders above the rest: evangelization.” (Fr. Bob Bedard, Evangelization: A Challenge for the Catholic Church, p. 6)
