Jesus never asks us to do anything that isn’t possible by his grace. He never calls us to anything that is actually a burden or restrictive. So, what does Jesus really mean to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect?

By the grace of God we can do the impossible. We can love the people we find impossible to love. He doesn’t just ask us to do this. He commands us to do this. Loving those who are hardest to love makes us most like the children of God. So, how do we do it?

Practice forgiveness, empathy, and kindness.

This love can seem impossible. But, the love of God lives in us. We live in a broken and wounded world. Our world desperately needs witnesses to this kind of love. We are the very people called to give birth to that love in the world by reflecting the image and love of our Father.

Practice forgiveness, empathy, and kindness.
