The Catholic Church needs to regain back her identity and mission.
I “ dream of a “missionary option” – that is, a missionary impulse capable of transforming everything, so that the Church’s customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channeled for the evangelization of today’s world rather than for her [own] self-preservation.” - Pope Francis
King's missionary mandate is “therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” - Mt 28:19-20
What is very common in many of the churches is that they catechize the people about the sacraments without first bringing them to an encounter with the Lord, have them undergo conversion, be his disciples before they receive the sacraments. Because of that, we see people just coming to receive the sacraments and after that leave the church.
In Matthew 7:17 Jesus said, “Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” The Lord wants his church to bear good fruit. And what fruit is that? Missionary disciples. For us to make missionary disciples, we need to have a healthy culture and a healthy culture is a product of good values. I would like to share with you three values that I would like to see in this parish and these are: Leadership; Evangelization; Obedience to the Holy Spirit.
