God’s love for us is unwavering and infinitely generous. Christ calls us to love one another in the same way. Especially those who we may find difficult to love. “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have?” (Matthew 5:46).
“When we learn to love those, who are maybe not so easy to love, it is amazing how much God can change us”.
Of course, the best way to do this is to pray about it. Simply ask God to love them through you. Your reward is that you become more fully the person that God wants you to be.
The Father’s love does indeed elicit in us a response. Stewardship is a natural part of our response. Jesus said there is no greater love than “to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). We are Jesus friends, he sacrificed everything for us. Giving sacrificially is a good way to express our gratitude to God. Authentic generosity begins with giving out of love. And, when the gift involves a sacrifice the reward comes – the reward is joy! We experience joy because we know that someone else is benefiting from our sacrifice. Christ’s joy is in us, and that makes our joy complete. Share the joy that is in you by giving generously to others. That’s good stewardship of Jesus’ sacrifice.
