Born in Houston, Texas, into a Mexican and Salvadorian Catholic family. Sergio is an active member of the Catholic Charismatic Center. Raised in a faith-filled environment, he developed a love for God through the sacraments, prayer groups, and retreats. After a “New Life” retreat at age twelve, he began to encounter the Father’s healing love and sought God more deeply. In middle school, he struggled with his faith and felt divided between church and school life, but in seventh grade, while praying before the Blessed Sacrament, he experienced God’s unconditional love and chose to give his life to God, even at the cost of friendships.

In high school, Sergio excelled in welding and planned to pursue underwater welding, but during and after the pandemic, he began questioning his identity, purpose, and relationship with God. After drifting from the Church, he attended a Steubenville Conference before his senior year, where he encountered God’s mercy through prayer and reconciliation. This became a turning point, as he came to know God personally as a close friend. After graduating early, he chose not to pursue welding, sensing God had other plans. He worked at Raising Cane’s while serving in youth ministry, evangelization, altar serving, prayer ministry, and giving talks, discovering joy in helping others encounter God.

On March 13, 2024, while praying in a chapel, Sergio felt called to begin discerning his vocation. During a pilgrimage to Rome for the Jubilee of Young Adults on July 25, 2025, he attended a vocation night at the Basilica of San Silvestro in Capite. While praying before the Blessed Sacrament and a relic of St. John the Baptist, he felt a strong desire to give his life to pointing others to Christ through the priesthood. His words, echoing St. John the Baptist—“Behold the Lamb of God”—became a powerful confirmation.
