“The group of followers all felt the same way about everything. None of them claimed that their possessions were their own, and they shared everything they had with each other. In a powerful way, the apostles told everyone that the Lord Jesus was now alive. God greatly blessed his followers, and no one went in need of anything” (Acts 4:32-33)

They got it! The first Christian community lived stewardship. They acknowledged that what they were accomplishing in their ministry was not of their own doing. It was all God's gift. Inspired by the Holy Spirit they generously shared all that God gave them so that the Church's mission could be advanced. And God greatly rewarded them: "...each day the Lord added to their group others who were being saved" (Acts 2:47).

Like the first Apostles, we also rely on the generosity of followers like you to help us proclaim the risen Christ in a powerful way.

God is sending vocations to the Companions of the Cross! He has blessed us with 20 seminarians and the recent ordination of Fr. Alex Colautti, CC. God is at work in our community and his work needs funding!

Your financial support is essential today as we are preparing for TEN more ordination to the priesthood in the next five years. Praise God!

“Fr. Bob gave God permission to change his life. I am inspired by the men who have joined him since and are Companions of the Cross priests today. They are as diverse as the lilies in the field, yet are a united charismatic brotherhood. In life, the happiest people are generous people. Supporting the Companions of the Cross gives me great joy. I know that my giving helps bring more labourers into the vineyard. Their zeal for evangelization is bringing countless souls to Christ. I hope you will join me in this. Our financial support is critical!” (Gerald Larkin Long Time Supporter of the CC’s)

The Church and the priesthood are gifts from God. So too is our faith and our possessions which come to us from our good and gracious God. A great way to respond to God's goodness is to consider tithing.

"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing" (Mal 3:10).

God's word on tithing remains valid today and we can trust in his word. I invite you to prayerfully consult God as to how he wants you to distribute your ten percent, remembering when gratitude is behind the gift, intense joy always accompanies the gift.

For someone new to tithing, "...the full ten percent might represent too drastic a move to start with. Why not set a lower rate and gradually work up? Take a deep breath and give it a try" (Fr. Bob Bedard).

It helps to pray about all of this, asking God, "What measure of my financial blessings do you want me to share with other?" We hope and pray that in gratitude to God you will direct a generous portion of your tithe to our 2018 Pentecost Appeal. May God bless you and all those dear to you.
